What is Wire Sculpting?

 

Wire sculpting is when a person makes a sculpture, jewellery, and other items out of metal wire. Wire sculptures " dates back to the 2nd Dynasty in Egypt and to the Bronze and Iron Ages in Europe".

 

How Do you make Wire Sculptures?

 

Making a Wire sculpture consist of using a wire that has a workable gauge between 4 and 20 but it may vary. You are able to use higher and lower gauges but I prefer any gauge between 4 and 20. you will also need Wire cutters. You can use an average wire cutter or you can use specialized wire cutters for these purposes. The differences between the wire cutters are the ones for art may be used to make design such things as 2 long tubes where u can spin wire around. Another important item you will need are safety glasses. You may think you don't need safety glasses but they your eyes from the flying metal bits when you cut the wire.
